Member-owners contribute more than $3,000 back to community

At its recent quarterly meeting, Roanoke Electric Cooperative Care Trust Board awarded more than $3,000 to local nonprofits as part of the cooperative’s charitable community service program, Operation RoundUp.

Plant the Right Tree in the Right Place!

Historically, trees have been major contributing factors in power outages, especially during major storms.

Therefore, your cooperative has developed an aggressive vegetation management plan essential to controlling the growth of trees and other vegetation around the 2,000+ miles of line that make up our distribution facilities and rights-of-way.  Here are a few helpful tips to ensure that your trees are being planted in the right place for your co-op's right-of-way.

Curtis Wynn, CEO of Roanoke Electric Cooperative based in Aulander, N.C., has won a national award for innovation and excellence in communication. Wynn received the 2017 J.C. Brown CEO Communication Leadership Award through the electric cooperative industry’s Spotlight on Excellence Awards program yesterday.


North Carolina's electric cooperatives are monitoring conditions and are ready to respond if power outages occur as a result of winter weather.

The Roanoke-Chowan Partners for Progress Phase 2 (RCPP2) convened its quarterly meeting on Friday, June 9, at Roanoke Electric Co-op’s headquarters. RCPP2 is a local collaborative effort of community partners led by the co-op. Partners gathered to hear updates about one of the co-op’s most valued projects – Roanoke Connect.
