Co-op invites member-owners to Co-op Connections Day event
Roanoke Electric Co-op invites member-owners to its National Co-op Connections Day event on Friday, Oct. 6, at its headquarter office in Aulander. The co-op will host an outdoor vendor fair with local participating Co-op Connections businesses to provide member-owners with additional savings and deals when they use their Co-op Connections Card.
Touchstone Energy Cooperatives announced the first-ever National Co-op Connections Day in 2016. TSE is a co--op federation composed of more than 750 local, consumer-owned utility cooperatives in 46 of the 50 United States. TSE co-ops serve more than 30 million member-owners.
“We are excited to participate in this second annual event to get connected with our member-owners and local business partners,” Wynn said. “This event is a way for member-owners to take advantage of their local resources while saving them money to do other things.”
As an added benefit member-owners can also take advantage of national flash sales and unique offers for member-owners at connections.coop. Member-owners and employees will also be able to participate in a social media contest when they upload photos featuring the Co-op Connections Card while using #ImConnected on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be eligible for prizes.
“October is National Co-op Month and a time where we truly celebrate the cooperative difference with our membership,” said Curtis Wynn, president and CEO of the co-op. “Celebrating Co-op Connections Day truly speaks to our member-first mindset.”

U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities, Greenville, SC
GREENVILLE, SC - Enviva Holdings, LP today announced a $45,000 grant to support African American land retention and healthy forests in northeastern North Carolina. The grant to the Sustainable Forestry Program of the Roanoke Center—a nonprofit affiliate of the Roanoke Electric Cooperative headquartered in Ahoskie, North Carolina—deepens the existing partnership between Enviva, the Roanoke Center, and the U. S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities (Endowment). That program serves forest owners in seven counties in the Cooperative’s service region and near two of Enviva’s wood pellet facilities.
